Story Behind The Song: Für Luxette
This is the first of a lifelong series of posts where I tell you the secrets & story behind a specific song that I created and released.
This first post is about my first song Für Luxette.
While in college, I sat at the piano and learned how to play Beethoven's famous Für Elise. After playing the song for the hundredth time I realized that after the intro I could insert my own part, thus making it a remix or a new rendition of a classic.
The song was originally intended to be for a girl that I loved in my teenage years, though she doesn't know about the song nor has she ever heard it. The song has now been repurposed to be for my wife, Luxette. I look forward to playing it for her on the day we meet, Lux Day.
For months, I would go to the piano at least once a day and play the song in order to keep my mind sharp. I knew I had to have it memorized for the moment when it would be played for the love of my life.
As I continued playing the piano, I began to search for ways to record the track.
I started using Ableton Live 9 in mid-August of 2016. This was the first track I recorded. I did so by actually playing the entire song live on a MIDI keyboard and then I sat there and edited the notes by hand. At last the song was 'perfect'.
I then proceeded to use my newfound power of having any instrument play the song back to me.
After a few hours of tinkering, I decided upon the version you hear today.
I hope you enjoy the track.
It was born from love.
Stay tuned for more.
